Location: Takao Signal Cabin (高雄臨港線鐵路北號誌樓), Gushan District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan
I was quite surprised to find the old signal cabin in the condition it was in. The upstairs was sealed off, but on the ground floor one room was open and a mess inside.
Location: Minxiong Haunted House (民雄鬼屋), Chiayi County, Taiwan
North of Chiayi city, in a small town called Minxiong, there’s an old abandoned mansion that’s well known in the area as a haunted house. The house, also known as the Liu Family Mansion, has been empty since the Japanese occupation of Taiwan and is now slowly being reclaimed by the jungle.
Location: Jin Di Ice Rink (金地溜冰場), Yancheng District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan
The thing I like most about street photography and urban exploration is that you often discover parts of the city that would normally go unnoticed. Pockets of history, or contained worlds, that you would otherwise never see, which is what I got with Jindi Ice Rink.
Location: Taiwan Cement, Gushan District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan
The Taiwan cement factory sits tucked in against Monkey Mountain, in Kaohsiung’s Gushan District. For years half of the factory was left abandoned and each time I went hiking on the mountain the urban explorer in me was more and more intrigued to take photos there. I finally got around to going there in February 2014 and took this set of photos.
